history.
The District’s $12.4 billion New School
Construction Program will deliver more than 132 new, state-of-the-art
neighborhood schools for LAUSD students by 2012. This construction
program consists of building new primary centers, elementary
schools, middle schools, high schools and additions to existing schools. To date,
the program has completed 70 new schools and 60 additions, providing students with 70,000

In addition to building new schools, LAUSD
has an aggressive $7.6 billion Modernization and Repair Program
in order to renovate the more than 800 campuses throughout the District. More than
20,000 modernization and repair projects are currently planned,
with many more headed in the future. To date, the program

projects. Contractors performing work
in the Modernization and Repair Program are paid on an average
